Tip In Detonation,, Effects..???

It seems everywhere I read that the JRSC gives this "Tip in Detonation" That split second when you jump on the throttle and it boosts but nothing is ready, then the fuel catches up..?

How bad is this, can you leave it for a while???

What can you do to fight it?

I've been having this problem with my JRSC on a 99 Si. The detonation is caused by the switch from vacuum to boost and the fuel not supplying enough fuel pressure to meet the needs. It only happens at part-throttle or "tip-in." At WOT I have had zero problems.

There's a couple things you can do to combat this situation:
1.) Retard ignition timing
2.) Water injection
3.) Colder spark plugs
4.) Cold air intake
5.) Make sure your A/F ratio is satisfactory - get a fuel pressure guage and adjust fuel pressure to 55-60psi at idle with vacuum line disconnected.
6.) Dyno-time!! Get a V-AFC or similiar device and get on the dyno!

I've been living with it for about 15,000 miles. I don't think at those low rpm's, the length of time that it occurs, and how often the situation occurs, that we should be too concerned about it.
